Endura in the UAE: Which Model for What (2026 Guide)
Posted by ADVENTURES HUB TEAM

Quick answer: for most UAE road and spin riders, the Endura Xtract Gel Short is the best value pick: fast-drying fabric and a 400-series gel pad for well under AED 200. If you ride long road or gravel loops, step up to the Pro SL Bibshort with its 700-series pad. Mountain bikers heading to Hatta or Mushrif should start with the Hummvee Short II.
Endura makes a lot of kit, and the names (Xtract, FS260, Pro SL, Hummvee, Singletrack) don't tell you much on their own. This guide explains which line is built for which kind of riding, what works in 40 degree heat, and which models we would actually buy. Everything recommended below is in stock in our Endura collection, priced in AED and delivered across the UAE.

Is Endura a good brand for UAE riding?
Yes. Endura is a Scottish cycling clothing brand, founded in 1993, that makes everything from entry-level padded shorts to pro-level race bibs and trail protection. It is a specialist clothing brand, not a bike brand that also sells jerseys, and that shows in the pads and fabrics.
For the UAE, the useful thing is range. A commuter in Dubai Marina, a weekend roadie doing Al Qudra loops and a mountain biker riding the Hatta trails all need different kit, and Endura covers all three at clearly separated price points. The trade-off: Endura was born in a wet, cool country, so some of its best-known gear (waterproof jackets, thermal layers) is irrelevant here. We stock the summer-weight lines that make sense in the Gulf.
Which Endura line is which?
The short answer: Xtract is entry road, FS260 is mid-range road, Pro SL is premium road, Hyperon is endurance and gravel, Hummvee is relaxed mountain bike, and Singletrack is technical trail. Here is how the lines we stock map to riding styles.
| Line | Riding style | Fit | Price level | Best for in the UAE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xtract | Road, spin, commuting | Close fit | Entry | Indoor classes, Al Qudra beginners, first padded shorts |
| FS260 / FS260 Pro | Road | Athletic | Mid | Regular weekend group rides |
| Hyperon | Endurance road, gravel | Athletic | Mid to high | Long rides where comfort beats aero |
| Pro SL | Road, gravel, long distance | Race fit | Premium | 100 km plus loops, Hatta climbs, sportives |
| Hummvee | Trail, mountain bike, everyday | Relaxed, baggy | Entry to mid | Mushrif and Hatta trails, commuting, bikepacking |
| Singletrack | Technical trail, enduro | Regular, trail cut | Mid | Rocky Hajar trails, riders who want protection |
Bib shorts or waist shorts: which is better in the heat?
For road riding, bib shorts are better, even in summer. The straps hold the pad exactly where it should be, there is no waistband digging into your stomach when you are bent over the bars, and nothing slides down in the sweat. The extra fabric on your back is thin mesh on good bibs, so heat is not the issue people expect.
Waist shorts still make sense in three cases: spin classes, short commutes where you want to get changed fast, and mountain biking, where a padded liner sits under a baggy outer short. If you only ride an hour at a time, the Xtract Gel Short is fine. Once rides pass two hours, most people end up in bibs.
How do Endura pads compare?
Endura numbers its pads by series, and a higher number means a more shaped, more expensive pad. The pad is the single biggest difference between a cheap and an expensive pair of shorts, so it is worth knowing what you are paying for.
- 200 series: a basic pad, used in Clickfast liners that clip into Hummvee shorts. Fine for trail rides of an hour or two.
- 400 series: the multi-density gel pad in the Xtract Gel Short, up to 15 mm thick. Soft and forgiving for upright riders and spin bikes.
- 700 series: the pad in the Pro SL Bibshort, developed with bike-fit specialists gebioMized. Padding sits only where your sit bones and soft tissue take load, so it feels less bulky on long rides.
Thicker is not always better. A very thick gel pad can feel great for 45 minutes and then start to chafe on a three hour ride because it moves. If you ride long, a shaped pad in a bib short beats a thick pad in a waist short.
Our picks: which Endura model for what
1. Endura Xtract Gel Short: best first padded short
Best for: spin classes, commuters, new road riders.
The Endura Xtract Gel Short uses Endura's fast-wicking Xtract fabric, flatlocked seams, a seam-free inner leg and silicone leg grippers, with the 400-series gel pad. It is the cheapest way into proper Endura kit, and it is the model we have in the widest size run (S to 2XL).
- Pros: low price, soft gel pad, dries fast, wide size range.
- Cons: waist short, so it can roll down on long rides; the gel pad is less suited to three hour plus rides.
2. Endura Pro SL Bibshort: best for long road and gravel rides
Best for: riders doing 80 to 150 km loops at Al Qudra, Meydan or out to Hatta.
The Endura Pro SL Bibshort pairs the 700-series pad with Italian Lycra treated with coldblack, a finish designed to cut heat build-up in dark fabric and add UPF 50 sun protection. A lumbar support panel wraps the lower back so the straps do less work, and raw-edge leg bands stay put without squeezing.
- Pros: the best pad we stock from Endura, heat-reducing fabric, stable fit on long rides.
- Cons: around three times the price of the Xtract; race fit is tight if you are between sizes.
3. Endura Hummvee Short II: best all-round mountain bike short
Best for: trail riders, bikepackers, and anyone who does not want to look like a roadie at the coffee stop.
The Hummvee is Endura's original baggy MTB short. The Endura Hummvee Short II has zipped hand pockets, cargo pockets and a large rear pocket, in a tough outer fabric that copes with sand and rock. Wear it over a padded liner for rides longer than an hour.
- Pros: durable, lots of pockets, works on and off the bike.
- Cons: this version has no liner included, so budget for one if you need padding.
4. Endura Singletrack Lite 3/4 Pants (women): best for rocky trails
Best for: women riding technical trails where knees and shins take hits.
The Endura Singletrack Lite 3/4 Pants are 88 percent nylon and 12 percent elastane, with a water-repellent finish, pre-shaped knees, side and back pockets and Clickfast compatibility so a padded liner clips in. The longer cut covers the top of knee pads, which matters on the loose rock of the Hajar mountains.
- Pros: stretch fabric, room for knee pads, liner compatible.
- Cons: warmer than shorts in summer; better suited to October to April riding.
5. Endura Hummvee Ray II Jersey: best trail jersey
Best for: mountain bikers and casual riders who want a looser jersey with pockets.
The Endura Hummvee Ray II Short Sleeve Jersey is a relaxed-fit, 100 percent polyester jersey with fast-wicking fabric, a full-length front zip, three rear pockets and a zipped security pocket. The full zip is the feature you will use most in the UAE: you can open it fully on climbs.
- Pros: full zip for ventilation, rear pockets, relaxed cut.
- Cons: not aero; road riders will prefer the FS260 Pro.
6. Endura FS260 Pro Jersey: best road jersey for the money
Best for: road riders who want a fitted jersey without paying race prices.
The Endura FS260 Pro Short Sleeve Jersey has a supportive athletic fit, three rear pockets plus a zipped security pocket, silicone hem grippers and reflective trims on the sleeves. The reflective detail is handy on the pre-dawn starts most UAE riders keep from May to September.
- Pros: athletic fit that does not flap, reflective trims, secure pocket.
- Cons: black absorbs sun; ride it early or late in summer.
7. Endura Singletrack Elbow Protectors: best light protection
Best for: trail riders who want elbow cover without hard-shell bulk.
The Endura Singletrack Elbow Protectors are soft, Kevlar-reinforced sleeves you can pedal in all day. They are not a replacement for full enduro armour, but they turn a sandy washout into a scuffed pad instead of a gravel rash.
- Pros: light, comfortable on long climbs, abrasion resistant.
- Cons: limited impact protection compared with hard-shell pads.

How does Endura fit?
Endura road kit (Xtract, FS260, Pro SL) runs close to the body, as road kit should. Hummvee is cut loose and baggy, and Singletrack sits in between. If you are between sizes, go up for Hummvee and Singletrack if you plan to wear pads underneath, and choose your normal size for road kit: road shorts that are too loose let the pad move, which is what causes saddle sores.
One honest note: several of these models are down to one or two sizes in our current stock. Check the size options on each product page before you set your heart on one, and message us if you need a size that is not listed.
Riding in UAE heat: kit tips that matter
The kit you choose matters less than when and how you ride, but a few things help.
- Ride the cool hours. From May to September most clubs start before sunrise. Reflective details (like on the FS260 Pro) and a rear light are not optional in the dark at Al Qudra.
- Never wear underwear under padded shorts. The seams cause chafing, and the pad is designed to sit against skin.
- Wash after every ride. Sweat and heat breed bacteria in pads fast. Wash cold or at 30 degrees, no fabric softener, and air dry out of direct sun: UV and heat break down Lycra.
- Carry more water than you think. Two bottles is the minimum for a summer road ride; a hydration pack makes sense on the trails. Our HydraPak guide covers bottles and reservoirs for the heat.
- Cover up on the trails. A 3/4 pant or elbow pads mean less exposed skin in the sun as well as fewer scrapes.

Buyer's checklist
- Decide road or trail first: that picks the line for you.
- Riding over two hours? Choose bib shorts with a shaped pad.
- Mountain biking? Baggy short plus a padded liner, or a Clickfast-compatible pant.
- Check the size options on the product page: some models are down to a single size.
- Plan for two pairs if you ride more than three times a week, so one is always clean and dry.
Verdict
Start with the Xtract Gel Short if you are new or ride mostly indoors. Buy the Pro SL Bibshort once your rides get long, because the pad is where the money goes. On the trails, the Hummvee Short II is the dependable all-rounder, and the Singletrack range adds coverage when the terrain gets rocky.
FAQs
Is Endura a good cycling brand?
Yes. Endura is a specialist cycling clothing brand from Scotland, founded in 1993, with kit from entry level to pro race wear. Its strengths are pads and durable fabrics. In the UAE, the summer-weight road lines (Xtract, FS260, Pro SL) and the trail lines (Hummvee, Singletrack) are the ones that make sense, and they are the ones we stock.
What is the difference between Endura Hummvee and Singletrack?
Hummvee is Endura's original relaxed, baggy mountain bike range built for all-round trail riding and everyday use, with lots of pockets. Singletrack is aimed at more technical trail and enduro riding, with stretchier fabrics, a more fitted cut and room for knee pads. For casual trails and bikepacking, choose Hummvee; for rocky, steep riding, choose Singletrack.
Are bib shorts too hot for the UAE?
No. Good bib shorts use thin mesh straps and back panels, so they add very little heat, and they keep the pad in place far better than a waistband once you are sweating. Most regular road riders in the UAE wear bibs year round. Waist shorts are fine for spin classes and short commutes.
Do you wear underwear with padded cycling shorts?
No. The pad is designed to sit directly against your skin, and underwear adds seams that rub and trap moisture, which is the main cause of saddle sores. Wear the shorts on their own, wash them after every ride, and use a chamois cream on long rides if you are prone to chafing.
How should I wash Endura cycling shorts?
Turn them inside out and wash cold or at 30 degrees after every ride, with no fabric softener, which clogs the fabric and the pad. Air dry in the shade rather than on a hot balcony, because direct sun and heat break down Lycra and elastic. Never tumble dry or iron the pad.
Does Adventures Hub stock Endura helmets?
Not at the moment. Our current Endura stock is clothing and soft protection: shorts, bibs, jerseys, trail pants and elbow pads. For a helmet, the Bolle Stance MIPS is a good everyday option we stock, or message us and we will tell you what else is available.
