The Airoh Commander is an aggressively styled take on the adventure/dual purpose themed helmets. Clearly inspired by the Airoh Aviator and Terminator series, the Commander is razor sharp and looks like it means business.
Its High Performance Composite (fiber glass composite) shell ensures a particularly low weight for this segment of just 1430 g (+- 50 g) and the helmet carries its weight very nicely as well. The Commander has 2 sizes available for its size range to keep the weight and dimensions down and ensure a great fit for every rider. The large visor is Pinlock ready (Pinlock lens included in the box) and offers a very wide field of view on the road (or lack of) ahead. With any proper ADV helmet, versatility is key and the Commander surely delivers. The peak is removable and so is the visor, allowing for 3 different configurations: with peak and visor for adventure riding, with peak and without visor for serious roasting off the beaten path and without peak but with the visor for road use. But what we probably like most about the Commander, is the ability to use MX goggles. The eye port is large enough to take a modern pair of goggles without any issues and on the back of the helmet there are 2 large ridges to accommodate the goggle strap. With some carefull positioning of the strap, you can even close the visor with the goggles in place.
The Commander seems to check all the boxes for serious ADV riders. Feature wise, it’s all good too! A large chin vent and a strategically placed vent at the eyebrows allow fresh air to get into the helmet and the exhaust chimney vents on top of the helmet allow the hot air to leave the helmet. The interior is plush and feels comfortable to the skin and is of course removable and washable. You will also find a large internal drop down sunvisor. The Commander is prepared to fit an Airoh A-W Conn communication kit, but let’s be honest, no one uses those. With a bit of effort, you are able to install a Cardo or Sena communication kit though!
