The Ramjet Air from Alpinestars are light motorbike pants clearly focused on more summery conditions. It immediately explains the ventilation factor prominently present here.
The outside also screams ‘motorcycle pants’: with a layer 450/600D (‘denier’) it’s all right as far as the wear-resistant base is concerned. The outside also got a PU coating and enough sturdy seams to score high as motorcycle pants. Apart from Ramjet Air, Alpinestars is also at the top of the list, which remains a strong brand when we talk about motorcycle safety. So it’s good. More than good. The Ramjet Air is effectively comfortable. Also because it remains a pretty light motorbike pants and they leave enough space in the back as well as on the knees via well placed accordion pieces.
There are no membranes or extra linings: ‘Air’ suggests summer, summer should remain light and convenient. The focus is on ventilation. Alpinestars calls the direct ventilation openings on the upper legs the Jet Ventilation System (JVS) which concretely consists of two zippered panels of which the angle can be folded and fixed (velcro) so that the underlying mesh panel is constantly passing wind. By making the folded corner a bit bigger or smaller, or simply by not folding it and only using the zipper, you can control the air inflow.
